When Peter came to Dunstable on a Saturday, we would go to a cafe that would allow under-age smokers. Central Cafe, up by The Dunstable Quadrant and the traffic lights where the banks and the Nag's Head pub is was out favourite Saturday lunchtime treat. We'd have sausage and chips and smoke Senior Service brand cigarettes. We were about 12 years of age, maybe 13 ?
In Leighton, Peter knew which cafes we would smoke in. I remember a cafe by Linslade Bridge where we went a few times. I stayed overnight in Highfield Road and Peter's Mum cooked us poached eggs - cooked in a different way than my Mum cooked them. Katrina - Peter's younger sister was in the house and - at boys only, single sex school - we were very short of female company.
Alan, Peter's elder brother had what I remember as a Norton Commando (650 c.c) motorbike with drop handle bars which was on the driveway and Peter had been told not to touch the bike. Like the story about the audio visual equipment at the Grammar School, Peter took the keys to Alan's bike and started the engine (while Alan was out) on the drive way and on the centre stand, I guess ?

I'm not saying motorcycles were sexy.. but a lot of copies of this single were sold ?
No surprise either that Peter love the dog that appears in the photos.. I can remember him singing this Elvis song when we were in the first few years at the Ashton Grammar School..

We'll raise a glass of Vodka to you, Peter on Friday 8th November 2024 at https://chezjerome.co.uk/
We'll have to let Steve Creed off.. as he'll have celebrated his "AA" birthday in July. He'll be celebrating twenty years or more of abstinence from drugs and alcohol. I gave up cigarettes in 1984 (aged 28 yrs)
Spaciba for your friendship when we were younger.
